Even through the darkest days, this fire burns always - Killswitch Engage "This Fire Burns" from the WWE: Wreckless Intent compilation
Yes fans, just when I thought that Legacies was going back to a lengthy hiatus, fate intervened. Light showed itself at the end of the tunnel. Long time fan of the project and good friend of mine, Andrew Cramer (aka oICEMANo), has decided to return to the artistic helm of Masters Of The Universe: Legacies. Andrew is the only person other than myself who has shown genuine love and care for this project. He's the only one other than myself that ever felt drawn to this project for the cause and for the love of what the story represented. I couldn't be more thankful for Andrew's return to the artistic helm. I am forever in debt to him for all that he has done and all that he is going to do for this project.
For those of you who don't know the story, I'll briefly summarize:
Andrew was the second artist that was attached to Legacies. I selected him after the original artist, Eric Darrah, was forced to depart due to time constraints and also due to his career starting to take shape. Andrew took to the project immediately after getting officially brought aboard. I truly believe that he felt and still feels a certain warmth when it comes to the reasons behind why this project even began. He did many concepts which were posted on this very site as they came out and he just seemed to have the feel for what I was looking for in the writing. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and other elements outside his control, he too was forced to step down from full artistic duties of Legacies. I found myself scrambling to find another artist and thought I had found one on two different occassions but neither ended up panning out (again, due to circumstances outside their control therefore no hard feelings are present). Finally, Andrew has found his way back to the fold.
However, please don't expect this project to come together quickly. Andrew has his career to attend to and this project really is more of a labor of love than a job. So obviously his job and family always come first. However, I will post information as it becomes available to keep everyone abreast of what's happening with Legacies. With all luck, I am making it my goal to bring all of you at least the first issue of Legacies by the end of the year. Some might say I'm aiming too low, but I say to you I'm just being realistic. Andrew doesn't have a lot of time on his hands and I respect that fact.
With that said, let us all applaud the return of the wonderful and talented Andrew Cramer to Masters Of The Universe: Legacies!!
Stay tuned, kids. The ride is about to begin.
OH!!! And on a quick side note...
Last night, I had the privilege of going to see one of my favorite bands in concert for the second time. For my birthday, my mother and sister bought my wife and I tickets to go see Killswitch Engage perform. What a treat! I've enjoyed them since first hearing "When Darkness Falls" on the Freddy Vs. Jason Soundtrack. I've been addicted to them, they're like crack. LOL!! Seriously though, if you haven't had an opportunity to listen to their music perhaps today is the day you should give it a try. Mind you, KsE is not for the weak, it's hardcore metal at its finest but with very nice melodic choruses. Howard Jones, the band's vocalist, is probably the best vocalist in hardcore metal today. Every time I see them or hear them they just never cease to amaze me. Lyrically they are extremely positive and powerful. Musically they are hardcore and melodic. And odd combination, perhaps, but it works and it works well. I'd personally like to take the time to thank KsE for inspiring me for the last 3, almost 4 years to keep striving to achieve my goals and for helping to give me motivation when I needed it the most.
Anyway, quick story about the show last night...my wife and I intentionally arrived to the show about an hour and a half early last night. I was hoping to be one of the first in line so that I could land one of the 12 limited edition autographed posters they sell at every show on this NO FEAR TOUR they are currently on (with He Is Legend, Chimaira, and Dragonforce). However, when we got to the show, there was a very large line. I thought the cause was lost. However, once we finally made it through the line and into the doors, I went immediately to KsE's merch booth. Nobody was buying anything but every one was looking at the merch. I took the opportunity to cut in front of every one. I saw on a sign lying behind the merch stand on a box that stated they were selling the limited edition autographed posters for $20 a piece on a first come, first serve basis and that there was only 12 available for each show. I asked the guy working the merch stand if they were already sold out of the posters. He looked at me with a half-smirk on his face and says, "you know what? I totally forgot to put the sign out. I haven't sold any of them yet." I quickly pulled out my money clip and threw down a 20 spot on the table. The guy smiles at me and grabs one of the posters and hands it to me. Within just a few moments afterwards, they were sold out of the posters. Talk about getting lucky. So now, my KsE poster will be posted along with all my other autographed stuff that I've compiled over the years of concert going (including Coheed And Cambria, 30 Seconds To Mars, Seether, Socialburn, Noise Therapy, Ra, and Boysetsfire).
